Lumbar Plexus Blockade with Ropivacaine for Postoperative Pain Management in Elderly Patients Undergoing Urologic Surgeries December 2005 Urologia Internationalis 75(4):345-9

Plan the axial slices on the sagittal plane; angle the position block perpendicular to spinal canal. Check the positioning block in the other two planes. An appropriate angle must be given in the coronal plane (perpendicular to the lumbar spines). Slices must be sufficient to cover the lumbosacral plexus from L1 down to the pubic symphysis. The aim of this single center feasibility study was to evaluate a combined blockade technique of the lumbosacral plexus for three predefined subgroups depending on the type of hip fracture. The lumbar plexus is a network of nerve fibres that supplies the skin and musculature of the lower limb.

A sacral plexopathy is a disorder affecting the nerves of the sacral plexus, usually caused by trauma, nerve compression, vascular disease, or infection. Symptoms may include pain, loss of motor control, and sensory deficits.

Additionally, the ventral rami of the fourth lumbar nerve pass communicating branches, the lumbosacral trunk, to the sacral plexus. The nerves of the lumbar plexus pass in front of the hip joint and mainly support the Die Hauptnerven können je einzeln oder in Kombination blockiert werden. B. N.-femoralis-Blockade) Zugangswege beschrieben.

2017-10-13 2011-09-24 Background: Lumbar plexus blockade (LPB) combined with sciatic nerve block (SNB) is frequently used for lower extremity surgery. Perioperative nerve injury is a rarely encountered complication of CONTINUOUS 3-in-1 lumbar plexus blockade is a safe and reliable technique for providing postoperative analgesia after open knee, [1,2] femoral shaft, or hip surgery.
